Rebuilder Members of the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association agree:

That as long as they remain members of ATRA, they will ADHERE TO THE SERVICE AND REPAIR definitions which are a part of the ATRA by-laws; SUBSCRIBE TO THE GUARANTEE STANDARDS which are shown therein; AND PRACTICE THE ADVERTISING AND MERCHANDISING PROCEDURES that are a part, thereof.

IN ADDITION, ATRA members further pledge to:

• State that the removal of a transmission from a vehicle in order to correct its problems is necessary, only when such is the case;

• Diagnose transmission problems for customers and for each other in an honest and expert manner;

• Provide prompt, courteous in-car diagnosis on behalf of customers of other members, free of charge;

• Speak at all times of industry competitors with integrity, and in a responsible and thinking manner;

• Conduct their inter-member warranty affairs in concert with the Association Golden Rule Warranty program;

• Keep themselves and their employees abreast of the constant changes in the state of the art of the industry, through training and re-training;

• Maintain their employees and facilities in such a state of orderliness and cleanliness that they will be a credit to the profession;

• Have themselves and their employees tested and certified on a continuing basis, so as to demonstrate that ATRA shops are staffed with competent personnel.

AND FINALLY...
WE PLEDGE THAT SUCH TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLIES AS WE REPRESENT TO THE CONSUMING PUBLIC AND TO OTHER MEMBERS AS BEING —
"REBUILT-ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE ATRA "BY-LAWS" will be ONLY THOSE UNITS which have been re-processed according to the standards outlined in the ATRA BY-LAWS, and as follows:

1. All internal and external parts shall be dismantled and cleaned and inspected;

2. All lined friction clutch plates, all gasket and rubber parts, all rotating metal sealing rings, and disposable type filters shall be replaced with new;

3. All dynamic application bands shall be replaced with new or relined bands, each time;

4. The torque converter shall be considered to be a part of the transmission; and any torque converter which is judged as not capable of delivering new converter performance and life shall be replaced with a new, used, or rebuilt converter which will; and the converter which is installed along with a rebuilt transmission main body shall be guaranteed by the member, along with the rest of the transmission;

5. Any and all other impaired, defective, or substantially worn parts which are not mentioned above, but which would not be expected to deliver new part performance, shall be restored to a sound condition, or replaced with new, rebuilt, or un-impaired used parts which will
